Ensemble Galilei, with Neal Conan

The ensemble features players from both classical and Celtic traditional backgrounds. Their “A Universe of Dreams” program, which they will perform here, is music, poetry and stories with narrator Neal Conan, host of NPR’s “Talk of the Nation”, and features projected images from the Hubble Space Telescope. With evocative music inspired by the Hubble images, the performers present the perfect backdrop for works by some of the finest poets in America. Audiences have been swept away by this extraordinary combination of the spoken word and what has been described by critics as “…music that speaks to the heart in ways that transcend mere language”.

The concert is open to the public with admission charge, donations are appreciated.

The Ensembl Galilei's appearance in Joplin is funded in part by EaglePicher Technologies, LLC, the Lemons Family Charitable Trust, U.S. Bank, N.A., Trustee, the National Endowment for the Arts under the Arts and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, and the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency.

A second concert will be held on Saturday, March 6th at 1:00 p.m., sponsored by local Edward Jones agents for their clients only.
